Mark Hewitson, Head of Client Development, WEALTH at work

Mark Hewitson

Mark Hewitson has many years of experience in financial services, including delivering service innovation and pension scheme member services for major FTSE companies.

He leads the team responsible for developing and implementing a range of financial education and guidance services for our existing clients and for companies and Trustee boards across the UK.

Mark also actively manages partnerships with major institutes for retirement savings professionals including the Pensions Management Institute and Pensions Policy Institute and leads the development of our at retirement services for workplace pension schemes and pension scheme members.

Iona Bain, Young Money Blog

Iona Bain

Iona Bain is a financial journalist and broadcaster who founded the pioneering Young Money Blog in 2011 and is the go-to voice for millennial money in the UK. She writes for the FT, fronts educational campaigns, and speaks at major events. She was shortlisted for a UK press award in 2020 and has been named one of Onalytica's most influential women in UK finance. Her media appearances range from BBC Newsnight and Question Time to the One Show and Woman’s Hour. She also recently co-presented Radio 4's Austerity Audit and is Radio 1’s resident financial expert. Her first book ‘Spare Change’ was published in 2016 and ‘Own It’ – the UK's first guide to long-term saving and investing for young people – is out now and available to buy from all good online bookshops. She also co-hosts the new Own It podcast with her dad, retired financial and business journalist Simon Bain.

Ian Baines, Head of Pensions, Nationwide

Ian Baines

Ian Baines is an experienced pension professional who has helped manage many workplace pension plans for several large UK employers. He is currently head of pensions at Nationwide Building Society and a member of the Aviva Independent Governance Committee which has oversight on c3 million individual pension savings plans. Ian and his team are passionate about providing a quality service to the trustee boards, stakeholders and pension plan members they support. At the heart of this is a desire to help pensions members understand better and engage more with their pension savings so they can maximise their financial security at retirement.

Ian Hodson, Head of Reward, University of Lincoln

Ian Hodson

Ian Hodson is the Head of Reward at the University of Lincoln overseeing all aspects of reward including payroll, pensions, employee benefits, HR systems and executive remuneration. Having started his career in finance before moving specifically in to pay and benefits Ian has a background in both the public and private sector having previously worked for Moy Park, Mars, Prudential and Lincolnshire County Council.

A firm believer and champion in the importance of reward strategy as a driver for change and in supporting organisational success, Ian has previously overseen teams that have been acknowledged for their achievements at awards for their innovative work including winning the 2018 Best Voluntary Benefits.

Ian is the current Chair of the Northern Universities Reward Group and a board member of the Education Competencies Consortium.

In 2014 Ian was chosen as the winner of the Pay and Benefits Career Accomplishment Award and also regularly contributes to professional publications.
